In 2004 Larmtjänst outsourced its salvage unit (RVR) to the Swedish Fire Protection Association (SBF) for a trial period of three years. In November 2005 Larmtjänst's board decided to permanently transfer the RVR unit to SBF. From 1 January 2007 the entire salvage operation has been conducted by the new company, “Försäkringsbranschens Restvärderäddning i Sverige AB”, the RVR Service for short. The operation has the same focus and goals as previously, namely to minimise damage for all parties affected, both insurer and insured.
The insurance companies and captive companies that have been customers of Larmtjänst will be contracting parties to Försäkringsbranschens Restvärderäddning. There are currently agreements in place with some 40 insurance companies and around 40 captives (which only insure personal property) for the RVR Service to carry out salvage operations. The fact that the RVR unit's operation is classified within a “fire environment” ensures that resources are used more effectively, with the new “Civil Protection Act” also providing the possibility of other assignments.
